Brown founded Define Search Strategies in 2005 with partner
Marshall Simmonds as a consulting side to their work for
The New York Times Company (NYT). As Chief Operating Officer,
Matthew is responsible for staying on the leading edge of
the evolving search world, and ensuring that Define's enterprise
clients are prepared for the next generation of online marketing.
As Director of Search Strategy for the New York Times Company,
Matthew drives the research and technology side of the search
marketing and optimization efforts for the Times, The Boston
Globe (Boston.com) and The International Herald Tribune.
He architects search strategies that deliver maximum impact
on ROI and search engine visibility.
Prior to his role at the New York Times, Matthew worked
since 1996 as an online solutions developer and a technical
marketing specialist to the semiconductor and defense industry.
His specialization is eCommerce and online marketing solutions
deployed on an enterprise scale. Matthew has worked with
dozens of U.S. and multinational Fortune 500 companies including
GE, Intel, ReaderĂs Digest, Viacom/CBS Television, Tyco,
TV Guide, Gawker Media, MediaLive, Boeing, Flextronics,
AT&T Wireless, Xerox, Raytheon, and Genie.
